Camden Partners Announces Private Placements for Three Companies

Baltimore, Md. - Camden Partners Holdings, LLC, a private equity firm headquartered in Baltimore, today announced the completion of three private placement deals during the First Quarter.

In the most recent transaction completed in March, Camden Partners led a $12 million private equity financing for HemCon Medical Technologies, Inc. of Portland, Ore., a developer of products for the control of bleeding and infection resulting from trauma or surgery. Richard Berkeley, partner, led the transaction for Camden Partners and has joined HemCon's board of directors. The funds will be used for recapitalization and expansion capital to accelerate product development activities, expand markets and for investments in capital equipment and facilities.

"We experienced an active First Quarter in our Strategic Partners Funds by participating in $42 million in financings and we were able to demonstrate our breadth of expertise in two of our core service areas, healthcare and payment processing services," said F. Mackey Hughes, a partner with Camden Partners.

In February, Camden Partners led a $7.6 million private placement in Planet Group, Inc., an international multi-currency payment and data processor headquartered in New York. Operating as Planet Payment, the company enables businesses to accept, process and reconcile credit card transactions in multiple currencies. Following the deal, Planet Group announced the opening of a Shanghai office and opened an office in Beijing. The Camden Partners deal team was led by Shane Kim.

In January, Camden Partners co-led a $22.5 million Series D financing in Vantage Oncology, Inc., El Segundo, Calif., which operates radiation oncology treatment centers in California, New York, Ohio, Indiana, Massachusetts and Illinois. Vantage plans to use the funding to continue expansion in existing markets and new states. Camden Partners' Shane Kim, principal, led the transaction and has since joined the board of directors.
