• Proprietary Products or Significant Barriers to Entry - While these characteristics are always important, they can be critical when making long-term investments in illiquid situations.
• Potential for Expanding Revenues and Margins - Such companies have consistently shown explosive growth in valuation.
• Segments Undergoing Exits or Consolidation - Often the economics and competitive balance of power are shifting for these companies.
• Strong Recurring Revenues or Franchises - These businesses are easier for management to grow, manage and exploit.
• Proven Business Models that can be Replicated for Growth - Such highly leveraged drivers of growth contribute significantly to a company's ultimate success.
