Brown & Sons, Incorporated and its successor organizations, Bankers Trust Corporation and Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc. Richard focuses on investments in the business and financial services, health care and education markets for the firm.

Previously, Richard was Managing Director and Global Head of the Equity Private Placements Group at Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc., where he was responsible for the origination, structuring, and consummation of private equity financings for private and public companies. During his tenure, Richard and his team members completed more than 135 private equity financings for private and public companies.

Following graduate school, he practiced law at Dell, Craighill, Fentress & Benton between 1980 and 1983.  He also served as an officer in the United States Air Force between 1974 and 1976.  Richard is a former member of the Board of Managers of the University of Virginia Alumni Association, and a former President and former member of the Board of Directors of the Jefferson Scholars Foundation at the University of Virginia.

He has served, or is currently serving, on the Boards of Directors of a number of public and private companies – including RealPage, Inc., WageWorks, Inc., HemCon Medical Technologies, Inc., TradeBeam Holdings, Inc., IncentOne, Inc., and Barton-Cotton, Inc. – educational institutions, and charitable organizations.

Richard earned his B.A., J.D., and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Virginia.

Managing Member and Chief Operating Officer

Don joined Camden Partners in 1997 and is a Managing Member and the Chief Operating Officer. He has over 30 years of experience working with and advising small public and private companies. Don serves as a resource to portfolio companies in the areas of accounting, financial reporting, information systems and recruiting, among others. He serves or has served on the boards of AgilQuest, Inc., BioMedical Enterprises, Inc., Calvert Education Services, Inc., Centene Corporation (observer),  Collections Marketing Center, Inc. (observer), IncentOne, Inc., MinSec Holdings, Inc., New Horizons Worldwide, Inc., Occupational Health + Rehabilitation Inc.,  Questar Assessment, Inc., and Towne Park, Inc. (observer) all of which are current or former Camden Partners’ portfolio companies.

Previously, Don served as Chief Financial Officer of Capstone Pharmacy Services, Inc., a public, small-cap institutional pharmacy services provider. He also spent 12 years as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Broventure Company, Inc., a closely-held investment company and family office, and 11 years in the audit division of Arthur Andersen LLP. Don has also previously served on the boards of several public and private growth companies, as well as, several not-for-profit groups, including the Board of the Maryland Food Bank.  He is currently serving on the board of trustees for Lycoming College.

Don earned a B.A. degree from Lycoming College, an M.S.F. degree from Loyola University Maryland and is a Certified Public Accountant.

(acquired by Stericycle Corporation, NASDAQ: SRCL), AlgoRx Pharmaceuticals Inc. Dr. Kersey serves as the Chairman of the Board of Johns Hopkins Medicine International, development arm of Johns Hopkins Medicine with hospital management and clinical education services in the Middle East, North America, South America, Europe and Asia.  Dr. Kersey serves on the board of trustees of Johns Hopkins Medicine and the board of trustees of The Johns Hopkins Hospital, the #1 ranked hospital in the country, according to the U.S. News & World Report annual rankings of American hospitals.  Dr. Kersey serves on the board of directors of The Johns Hopkins Hospital Endowment Fund, and he is a member of the Johns Hopkins Medicine Compensation Committee and the Johns Hopkins Medicine Patient Safety and Quality Committee.  Dr. Kersey also serves on The Johns Hopkins Hospital Credentials Committee.

Dr. Kersey serves on the board of directors of the Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare, LLC (JHAH) joint venture based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, one of the world’s largest population health management initiatives.

Dr. Kersey’s international experience includes work with Sumitomo Biosciences in Japan and the World Bank in the former Soviet Union (the Republic of Georgia) as well as research fellowships focusing on the National Health Service in the United Kingdom and Sweden-based Telefon LM AB Ericsson’s market entry into China.

Dr. Kersey received his B.A. degree from Stanford University, his M.B.A. degree from the Harvard Business School and his M.D. degree from the Emory University School of Medicine.

David is Senior Partner with Camden Partners and co-founded the firm in 1995. He has over 25 years of investment experience and focuses on investments in the business and education sectors. He serves as Chairman of New Horizons Worldwide, Inc. and Calvert Education Services, LLC. In addition, he is a director of National American University, Primo Water Corporation, Questar Assessment, Inc., Ranir, LLC, Triumph Higher Education Group and Network for Good. He formerly served on the board of American Public Education, Inc., Nobel Learning Communities, Inc. and Towne Park, Ltd., all of which were Camden Partners portfolio companies.

David was employed by T. Rowe Price Associates from 1983-1995. He served as President of T. Rowe Price Strategic Partners I & II as well as co-manager of the T. Rowe Price New Horizons Fund. David started his career at Welch and Forbes, Boston-based private trustees.

David is also involved with numerous non-profit organizations. He is the Chairman of the Center For Urban Families as well as the Warnock Foundation. He is Founder and Trustee of the Green Street Academy in Baltimore City. He also serves on the board of the Greater Baltimore Committee and is a trustee of the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum.

David earned a B.A. degree from the University of Delaware and a M.S. (in Finance) from the University of Wisconsin. David is also a Chartered Financial Analyst Charterholder.
